DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY 

This position is responsible for all Mountain Operations which will include the following functions: Snowmaking, Slope Grooming, Vehicle Maintenance, Lift Maintenance, Lift Operations, Snow Removal, Grounds, and work closely with Terrain Parks, Facilities, and Summer Adventure Park Maintenance. This leadership role is critical to the successful growth and development of the company. This is a hands-on all-mountain position requiring work outside, including making snow.  As a member of the senior management team the position assists in the development, communication and implementation of Trollhaugen’s goals and initiatives.  

 GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.   Hires, motivates, evaluates and directs staff to accomplish established goals and objectives. Ensures that all employees receive the training, support, guidance, feedback and resources necessary.

 2.   Creates/maintains departmental standards, guidelines and objectives to ensure proper planning, safety awareness, and efficient operation of departments and successful achievement of resort goals.

 3.   Works closely with all Trollhaugen staff and outside contractors during construction or operational projects.

 4.   Works closely with General Manager on setting budgetary objectives, and meets those objectives. 

 5.   Maintains constant line of communication with General Manager on all issues, opinions, ideas regarding all aspects of Trollhaugen’s operations.

 6.   Represents resort at industry specific functions and local community as necessary to contribute operational expertise and value.

 7.  Maintains and enhances a guest focused culture in all areas of responsibility.

8.   Stays knowledgeable on legal issues and technological advances which impact the industry, maintains awareness of scope and progress of competition.

9. Acts as Manager on Duty when needed.

10. Participates as member of senior staff in order to contribute operational perspectives to management decision making, and give updates on projects that are ongoing.

11. Maintains a leadership role in all aspects of safety awareness and risk management.

12. Maintains and enhances a team-oriented culture with all departments and demonstrates a collaborative attitude.

13. Responsible for promoting a positive attitude within the organization.

14. Responsible for taking CHARGE in an EMERGENCY SITUATION.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Demonstrates excellent communication skills with all levels of employees, guests and all other outside contacts of Trollhaugen.

Ability to work hands-on on all aspects of Trollhaugen operations.

Ability to delegate responsibility, motivate and lead staff to achieve goals and objectives.

Ability to move around all areas of the mountain and base facilities at all times of the year to review projects, skiing product, maintenance, and guest service.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Abillity to work 12 hour shifts during snow making season

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

10 years of experience in the ski industry

Familiarity with construction, vehicle maintenance, welding, and other mechanical skills

Experience leading and directing staff

Must posses a valid drivers license. 

 

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Trollhaugen Ski Area, located in Dresser, WI, featuring downhill skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing with 26 runs, 3 chair lifts, 6 rope tows, and a conveyor lift. 280 foot vertical, groomed trails, a restaurant, snack bar, adult and children programs, and rentals.  Summer operations include a 120-element aerial challenge course and a 6-line Zip Line Tour.  Trollhaugen is a family owned business with most managers having worked for 10+ years. 

Dresser, WI is located in the St. Croix Valley, near the St. Croix River, 50 minutes Northeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul.
